Love the absurd, embrace the unknown.
When I was a child I was faced with the hard fact that people would treat me differently due to a complex web of things outside of my control.
Instead of staying quiet and letting myself be as “normal” as possible, however... I chose instead to be a beacon of self-acceptance and authenticity. My personal philosophy revolves around everyone being truly seen and heard. I enjoy stories of the archetypal underdog and the unhuman.
As an artist, my creative works embrace the concept of identity, worth, humanity, and anthropocentrism from the perspective of those who are seen as strange and alien. I host a deep passion for the complex network of biodiversity within the natural world, particularly the impact of invertebrates and other less-appreciated organisms. Animals like wasps are treated with fear, hatred, and disgust, despite being important pillars of local ecosystems, and other important things (think "pests", parasites, scavenger animals, bogs, scrub and marshes) are disregarded as expendable or pointless simply because they don't have a known use or positive impact within our own lives. As someone who belongs to a few communities that face death, hatred, and disgust on a daily basis; I take ignorance, xenophobia, and prejudice quite personally. My goal is to remedy fear and misinformation, and to fight back against the idea that something's worth as a living being is entirely based on it's productivity, novelty, or proximity to humanity.
I want to shake hands with the so-called monsters under the bed. I want to make the unknown knowable, or at least accepted for what it is.
Eldritch Teaparty is a casual party hosted for the odd ones out. All are invited, everyone is welcome, and it is a reclamation of my indomitable joy as a disabled, queer, autistic person. So shed your human skin, and enjoy the world in all it's strange and messy whimsy.
